New Fixed rate Mortgage Deal (credit rating)

Hi

Not sure if this is the right place, but i will ask anyway.

I currently have a mortgage with northern rock, my fixed rate deal has ran out so i went to discuss a new fixed rate deal yesterday. BUT i failed the credit check.

They have told me that they will refer it to the under-writing dept, but i'm so worried that i wont be able to get another fixed rate.

Any advice on what i can do??

On what grounds did you fail the credit check?

Are you borrowing extra money from NR? Normally they would not run a credit check unless you are looking to borrow extra money

no we are not borrowing any extra more - the advisor didn't even tell us she was running a credit check. i have been worried sick since yesterday that i am not going to be able to get a fixed rate mortgage and my payments with continue to go up and up every month...

You need to get hold of your credit file form the main agencies to see if there is anything there that shouldn't be. It surprises me that you were subject to a credit check being an existing cover and just remortgaging.
