Joint application Better rate????
Hi looking to borrow 13k for home improvements on one of our houses (we rent one out)
HSBC have offered me the credit but the rate is a long way from what the advertise (the norm now I understand)
Would I be better off applying with my wife for the loan (joint application) in order to get a better rate??
cheers

That depends on your circumstances, how much you both earn, what your credit histories are like, how much you both owe on other debts etc.
You might get a better rate if she earns a decent amount and has a credit history that is at least as clean as yours. However if she doesn't earn, or earns a low amount compared to her credit commitments etc or has issues on her credit file then it could mean you get offered a worse rate, or even declined.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
