Tesco Reward Hotel Deals!

Hi
went to book today short 4 day hotel break useing Tesco 3 X the value rewards.
current published price £434.80 however if I want to use my £120 of vouchers (converted to £360 tokens) the revised price is £698. Useing elementry maths I make it that the 3 X value is really less than the face value. Has anyone else been ripped off like this, if so what did you do......
Thanks
Tony

  • Yes we had the exact same problem with Hilton so we booked with Best Western insted who offered a better deal. The vouchers did say Hilton on them but they accepted them OK

We've always gone with Best Western because they seem they best value conversion-wise. Also they are flexible as they allow mid-week stays while some other chains don't. Unfortunately they have massively reduced the number of hotels you can use them at in the last couple of years.

    Same here.

Tried to book using flexible dates.

    £120 per room.

    £220 per room using Clubcard.

Really makes Hilton and Tesco look stupid.

Maybe they think we're all stupid ?
  • I tried and tried to book Hilton with Tesco club cards and dealt with their American call centre. Never managed to get any dates in the short term so tried 8 months away to be told hotel was fully booked, which it wasn't and I queried it, it was just they had not released the tesco allocation. Was told by Hilton to phone back next month and try again. Gave up and spoke to tesco who were very friendly and said send them back with a letter and they will refund the points and that it happens a lot. Hilton need to get their act together as they are upsetting customers
PS when on the phone to Hilton don't bother with "listening to their special offer" it is just selling a timeshare presentaiton in America at a date to suit them with you paying for the flight
  • got my vouchers when the 3x deal was still on - and been trying in vain to get something before the vouchers expire in August. Like others above, you get patched through to their American call centre (bizarre as they have one in Glasgow!), only to be told "no Tesco availability" nearly every time I want to book. I'm in the Hilton HHonors loyalty club as well - that doesn't carry any weight either....

Also it was sneaky that you weren't made 100% aware of all the hoops you have to jump through to use the vouchers until you'd actually received them. So I've come to the conclusion it isn't worth all the hassle.

Getting ready to write to Clubcard and ask for the points back TBH.

I think tesco have lost the plot somewhat in regard to their hotel/ holiday rewards programme.
Just been browsing cosmos holidays. The same holiday that we paid £1600 ish for last year in april AI is showing as over £2000 on their website for b&b!!!
They have got to be joking. Had no intention of using them for a cosmos holiday, but was just having a look.
I had intended to book with thomson holidays using deals, which are actually not that bad in value. However, i have seen so many great cash deals that i'm thinking twice now.
Looked at hotels as well for a short break, but the tesco price seems extortinate!
Getting harder to find anything to spend these deals on now.

Actually just thought of one. Eurotunnel is a great one to use deals against. No inflated prices,- you pay the same price as quoted on the website.
