you could definitely be missing out - i very rarely get any sales calls but have had quite a few winning calls and I know that not all leave messages. I won a camera from the Independant in December and they said that I was the third person they'd tried but the other two hadn't answered so they missed out.
From what i remember Absolute Radio don't leave a message or call back either, they just move on to the next person.
Some companies (itv for example) will phone back though
