Job offer - but JSA appointment tomorrow

Hi!

I have had a job offer (YAAAY) and just received the contract today. I was wondering how to deal with the Jobcentre - I have been on JSA for the past couple of months and before I got called for the new job I had received a letter from them asking me to go in for one of their 'routine' interviews tomorrow.

What do I do? Do I call them today saying that I got a job, or do I wait until tomorrow when I am there to tell them?

The Jobcenter stresses me out, urg!

You are required to sign off - although that is merely a signature/bit of info on your Jobseeker Agreement back page.
It is up to you if you want to keep the appointment tomorrow as, now you have the job, the signing off will be all that you do.... and no formal apointment is (or should be) needed for that.

    Well done.

If you are taking the job take the contract with you and sign off when you attend the job centre

go and sign on, and send the form back signing off when you actually start. I'd keep schtum, just in case they mess up your benefits!

Thanks! It's just that I am not just supposed to go sign on tomorrow but I have an interview with them...

  • if starting soon, sign off when you go to sign on- should (i think!) get JSA paid til the day before job starts..

otherwise, sign on, then do log off later..

If it's not too late, I've had a similar situation. When I phoned the Jobcentre and asked if I still had to go to the interview as I'd just got a job, they said to go anyway.

So I went and just started the interview by telling the bloke I'd in fact got a job so needed to sign off, and he sorted that out then instead of doing the interview.

Oh ok. Think I will do this. Wasn't really looking forward to one of their patronising interviews... :P
