PVA/Wood glue on carpet

Hello
I've got what seems to be glue on my nice new carpet. Whats my best bet for getting in out/off?

  • If it's pva glue, water should soften it & you should be able to wipe it off then.

Yeah I've wiped at it with a cloth and it's turned white and started to come up. Am I risking discolouring/damaging my carpet wiping it? Might sound daft but it cost us a fortune.

Can try covering glue with brown paper (newspaper also works) and iron with hot iron. Glue will stick to paper. PVA is a pain to shift. If the carpet was expensive should be colour fast, maybe best to test small area that is hidden first.
One day I might be more organised...........

Hot water quick for PVA wood glue. If you let it dry you won't shift it. Cheap kids PVA can normally be softened by soaking and washed out even after it is dry but decent quality PVA like wood glue dries hard, waterproof and permanent. Don't worry about discolouring or damaging the carpet, whatever effect wiping it with hot water has it won't be as bad as letting PVA glue dry onto it and either having a glossy hard patch of carpet or a bald patch where you've cut it out with scissors.
