Beach wedding games

Can you suggest some beach wedding-y games.

Evening reception, cafe on beach with decking area.

I thought about a coconut shy, limbo.

There's the large connect four etc but not sure if that's more garden party.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

Volleyball seems a bit to energetic for me but LOVE the photo :T

Thank you for that Hadley, our website says 'we want our wedding to be a fun event' so maybe I can tick that box :)

We used to play boules as kids on the beach.
I also think building some sandcastles would be ace.

MrsD that is a fab idea, just some buckets and spades and let them get on with it. Cheap and cheerful. Wonder if I can get one of those guys to make a sand statue of me and oh......

Now..... how to make a shy.......

  • competitive hole digging
    scavenger hunt
beach golf - make a course in the sand
    frisbee
    twister http://www.amazon.co.uk/Twister-Beach-Towel-with-Dice/dp/B001QCIB8E/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1329396311&sr=8-2
Wacky Splash (a version of wet tennis) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hamleys-Wacky-Splash-Rackets/dp/B001KM7EOC
beach olympics - running/ long jump/ frisbee throwing etc
hula hoop (also syncronised hula hoop and multiple hula hoop if you have any ambitious competitors)
tug of war (brides team vs grooms team maybe?)
marble racing ( you draw a path as long as you can for your marble to go through, whose evers goes the furthest wins)
burying - multiple teams each get a person they have to bury, first team to bury their person wins - ensure all people being burried are of the same size
clothes relay - each team is given snorkel, hat and flippers (more if you want to be mean) they have to put on all the clothes run to their team mate (about 30m is a good distance) take off all the items, the next person then gets dressed and runs to the next so on and so forth until all people on the team have run
fill the bottle - each team gets a bottle stuck in the sand around 25m from the sea and one by one they have to fill up the bottle with water using only their hands, best done in a relay otherwise can be quite chaotic!
The only people I have to answer to are my beautiful babies aged 8 and 5

I love the beach volleyball idea. Fab picture too. At a wedding we went to there was a 'lull' and it didn't take ling before people were playing rounders. A kids ball and a shoe as a bat!
