im guessing you're a PC user? i used to have Picasa in my PC days which i remember to good for basics. If you want something a little more complicated then i know a photographer who uses Gimp.
On my mac i simply use iphoto which comes with software, not sure if the later windows have a free photo thing built in?

    GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program)
How do I add a signature?
  • gimp is free, there used to be a version called gimpshop which was configured to look like photoshop.

Alternatively, older versions of Serif software are usually free to download (they will try to get you to upgrade to the current version when you register!)

    Agree with the above:

GIMP is a free, open-source image editor that aims to do a lot of what Photoshop does. In fact, there are quite a few Photoshop tricks it can do just fine, though sometimes it can be a bit more tedious and quirky than Photoshop. If you prefer Photoshop's interface, however, you might want to check out GIMPshop instead, as it is basically the same program made to emulate the style of Photoshop.
  • OO thank you - will have a nosey at Gimp / gimpshop

    Cheers!!! :-)

Paint.NET (https://www.getpaint.net) is also rather good. I find it a lot easier to use than GIMP, which for some reason never does what I tell it to!

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

If you don't need the impenetrable behemoth that is GIMP, the free version of Hornil Stylepix is a capable and resource-light image editor.

Also the more basic but still very capable Fast Stone viewer:
