Where did it all GO!!??

Hi,

Just a wee whinge really.

I sold some things in January and made myself £1400. It came in cash form, in dribs and drabs, so I squirrelled it away when I got it, some in hiding spots, some to pay some bills, some in my purse for daily expenses ().

I used £1000 to pay a chunk off my Credit Card (leaving a £2400 balance). The other £400 has mysteriously vanished and I have nothing to actually show for it! Even worse, I have committed the cardinal sin of "re-spending" on my Credit card and have "lost" another £200 somewhere :o.

I am TERRIBLE at this. That should have been a really positive step towards sorting myself out but instead I've frittered over half of it away on "treats" and nice food. :(

The only positive side to all that cash overspending is that I have had LOADS of £2 coinage in my change and the "£2 cow" is sounding EVER SO full when I give her a little shake :).

I realise it's all very trivial compared to the problems some of you have to face, but I had to confess somewhere...

Non, well done. You have seen there is a problem. It sounds like you have already started on your £2 pot. Next challenge is a spending diary. Note what you have have spent on. Use the online banking with credit cards and start working out where it's going.

Leave the card at home. A great start but a few tweaks could make this amazing
  • Well done on confessing - realising the problem is half the battle isn't it?
I too have been slipping a little with my mse ways since February came along. Nothing terrible but a few more bits of food being chucked in the bin, a couple of sly takeaways sneaking in etc. I see that it's because I'm stressed at the moment so I've lost the momentum a bit with money saving.
I've promised myself that's it for now and once half term is out of the way I'm back to it for sure.
Why don't you cut up that credit card? That might help as a starting point.
Maybe we can help each other along - do you keep a spending diary?
