Freelance Courier??

Can anybody suggest a decent way to work as a freelance courier? I am trying to fill my diary around being a landscaper with some additional work but i cant find any 'no strings' way of doing it. Everyone wants monthly payments to access their database but i feel like im just gonna get ripped off! Freight Alerts want £72 just to start! If anybody knows of any legitimate site that WILL give me some leads i'd be happy to pay a supplement

Cheers all

  • It depends where you are and what type of couriering. There are jobs in London as cycle couriers if you dig around a bit. Not sure if they are employed or freelance though
  • If you're looking to pay one of these sites then doing courier work is not for you. As I said in the last post you made, all the work thats worthwhile is taken by a small clique and many putting forward quotes are doing it at backhaul rates.

Pretty much all of it is sewn up by the parcel companies so you're looking at being a sub contractor which will require a full time commitment.

Courier work isn't something you can just do to fill in spare time.

You will also need a van, insured as a courier and you will need goods in transit insurance as well before anyone will touch you. If you're doing it as a fill in job you may find the costs outweigh the receipts.
  • Try Yodel - my friend does parcel delivery for them and gets paid an amount per parcel delivered.

offer a delivery service to local shops, with larger items for sale..

or charities that need stuff collecting?

may be worth looking into making your own bio diesel (if have proper space / equipment etc), to save on fuel costs..
Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
