Finally bought some cheap spray bottles - now what's the best thing to use them for??

Been hunting high and low for quite a while for somewhere that sells cheap refillable spray bottles - someone mentioned they bought them cheaply at a pound shop so been haunting local ones for last few weeks/months but no luck :( Went for a visit to Wilko's on Friday for other stuff and finally found quite a range of them  so I bought 3 of the cheapest at 49p each - bargain :D:D:D

So now all I want to know what are the best OS concoctions to put in them - I have read vinegar/stardrops threads but I'm confused on the sort of jobs they will be most used/effective...?

Please help...:o :o:o

I used a 'plant spray' bottle for a stardrops solution for the worktops

Try Nit repellant spray, mix mainly water with drops of Lavender, and tea tree essential oil.
I don't know how big your bottles are so can't give precise dosage.

I have a 150ml spray bottle and I put about 5/7 drops of each oil in water.
Shake to mix and spray on hair as a nit repellant.

How much stardrops do you put in vs water?
I have stardrops (and water!) and woudl like to do this but am not sure of the quantities.
    Thanks
  • I have vinegar and water in mine for cleaning the kitchen, windows and general 'dusting'. Also, just water for houseplants.

Someone said that the stronger sister of stardrops (starclen?) is good sprayed on a warm oven as it makes it easy to clean. I haven't tried that yet though.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.
  • I use an old ecover bottle and I have a mixture of stardrops and water and a few drops of zoflora cool and fresh - nobody has noticed we haven't had the orginal filling for a year!

I have one with zoflora & water (few drops is all it needs, about 1-40 solution), one with stardrops and water (only use about 1tbsp in bottle) and the other with vinegar and water (1/4 vinegar rest water in mine), spray for everything from windows to puppy accidents! I however had so many spray bottles I just washed the labels off and relabelled them.

You are always advised, including on this forum, not to mix chemicals!

Nit repellant is a good idea if you have kids, I bought one which has lavendar and tea tree in and it was about £4 for 150mls! Only thing I would be careful with is reaction to the oils, test small area first.

  • I read on this board somewhere to put a few drops of eucalyptus oil in with my water vinegar mix as it gives a nice smell as well as having germ busting qualities because the eucalyptus is a type of antiseptic. Its brilliant for use in the bathroom and leaves a gorgeous smell which is an added help if you've got a stuffy nose from a cold! I usually fill the bottle quarter full with vinegar, top up with water and then a few drops of eucalyptus oil. Hope that helps.
