Credit File Clean Up: CallCredit does not tally with Equifax

I was just reading another thread, and now I wished I hadn't!

I started the clean up process upon discharge and all seemed to be going well. In May this year I got a completely clean bill of health on my Equifax report (2 years after discharge).

The other thread mentioned CallCredit. Well in my book they're nobodies compared to Experian and Equifax so I never bothered to check my file with them, until today.

And I've found what I think is a discrepency. By way of an example, details on an old credit card bill on Equifax show:

Terms 0 @ £ 0 (Monthly) Status Settled
Current Balance £ 0 Start Balance £ 0
Credit Limit £ 14,900 Default / Delinquent Balance £ 0
Date Last Delinquent Date Satisfied XX/XX/2009

OK, looks good to me. It's marked as settled.

But on CallCredit the record does not have a Settled Date and shows a "Current Balance" dated 2011 of £14k, although the "Statement Balance" is zero.

So here's my question. How come my clean-up efforts have worked for everything on Equifax, but only most things on CallCredit? (everything on the CallCredit record is marked satisfied except two)

Should I be concerned? Maybe I'm not reading the CallCredit report properly?

Thx !

Creditors have a preference which CRA they report to and may change allegiance at any time. Hence you can end up with one record being updated and the other not.

Also, your clean up letters no doubt referred to the relevant CRA each time and so the creditors would have updated the reports you referred to.

You will need to clean up your CallCredit reports too.

In fact no, I used the stock letter (way back when) which does not mention any agency in particular.

Currently the information that you have recorded against my name with the Credit Reference Agencies is factually incorrect:
    • It is requested that if you intend to default the accounts, the default entry must be XXXXX, in accordance with the Data Protection Act.

    • It is requested that you mark the accounts in some way as to indicate that it is settled or satisfied, in accordance with the Data Protection Act.

The Information Commissioner has indicated that I should allow you 28 calendar days from the date you receive this letter to comply, during this time you are requested either to update the Credit Reference Files correctly (of all three Credit Reference Agencies) or notify me in writing the reasons that you refuse to.

Is the recorded default date OK?

Sometime the credit reports can be a bit hard to work out re settlement status/dates etc. Is it marked with a S or PS at any point in time? If looking online, you may have to hover you mouse over monthly updates.

If still not clear, then contact Callcredit to get confirmation of the status.

And yes, the letters deliberately ask creditors to update all three agencies.

My apologies, haven't quite got to doing mine yet and therefore made a daft assumption. :o Thanks both for the clarification.
