Help needed for novice mystery shoper

I have been doing a bit of mystery shopping and am now looking to reegularise my tax and NI position and found thread21 useful. What i dont understand is how i work out my profits. Is the money you get for placing a bet or buying an article or buying a meal for example treated as benefit in kind by IR or does it just go against expenses so in effect the only taxable amount is the assignment fee less any other deductible expenses

Advise appreciated please

youll get a better response actually posting in the MS thread.

This has been addressed many times before though, so have a read through the previous threads for the discussions.

there are varied opinions on it and its down to how you can justify costs, but there is no quick simple answer., read up the points raised by the others in far greater detail than Ive put here.
  • Ok thanks will do that but have already read most of the stuff in there and can't find an answer. Thanks again for your time
