Not Getting Paid

hi guys, i work for ESSO. the site where i work is going to be closed shortly for 8 weeks for refurbishment. During the time it is closed my manager says we wont be paid. surely this isnt right. he has said that we will be asked to work at other sites. i dont not have a car to travel to other sites and also have another job which i have fit around this job. the other option which we was given was to take our holidays. surely the company cannot stop paying us because of this and expect us to travel elsewhere for work.

just wondering if anybody knows anything more about if they can do this??

  • As they've offered work at other sites, I don't see why not. Sounds harsh but your transport to and from work is not their problem.

  • Yes they can ask you to work at other sites with sufficient notice which you've had. If you refuse to, they can refuse to pay you.
