Say you have shares in a footsie 250 company and its taken over by another footsie company, and you end up with shares in the new company, is it classed the same as if you had sold your shares ?
This scenario may apply to some shares I have and I would like to take steps to avoid paying capital gains tax if I can.

Hi,
I don't think capital gains comes in to it until you actually sell, and then it depends what you paid for them and how long ago,0
