Where are my debts?

Hey there.

After years of buying my head I really want to take the step forward to become debt free.

Ive had a court order come through from an old debt from a DCA which is a wake up call. Something I need to deal with although struggling to know what to do.

I've been reading some fabulous advice on this site however I have a problem, my debts are a few years old and I don't know how to trace them. Stupidly I've not been reading my mail and have thrown it away.

Could anyone give me any advice, or could someone give me a hug :(

  • Hi there,

Firstly, have a SAAC *hug* x

You probably need to order up your credit reports from the credit agencies, experian etc.

Be careful about acknowledging any ancient debts, if you can't really remember what / when / how much etc. You could lumber yourself with something that isn't yours!

  • Have you checked your credit report? Any from the last 6 years will show on them. I contacted one company direct and.they gave me the number of the debt collector which is dealing with my debt. worth a try?

    hahaha, cheers guys.

the CCJ I have defended and have another 14 days to come up with my defence. Although I don't know what to do with my defence.

I'm just trying to logon to creditexpert but seems I already have an account with them. I'm trying Equifax now, shaking.

    thanks for the hugs :D

tried equifax, applied online and then had to call women where I had to answer questions regarding my credit file.

Needless to say I couldn't answer any questions about it.

I'll have to wait until my JSA comes through and pay £14.99 for the creditexpert. Equifax are sending me round in circles.

  • artnoble - you have 3 credit files.
    (Call credit, Equifax, Experian).

Your information doesn't show up on all 3, as some companies only report to certain agencies.
You need to look at all 3 of them.

    Try checkmyfile.com
They show Equifax and Call Credit. It's free for 30 days too. At least that'll give you some sort of indication as to what debts you have. Also if you ave moved and aren't on the electoral roll that can hinder you viewing your credit files.

Thank you KellyKing, tried to sign up with my card but an error came up. It maybe that there's no money in it and couldn't be verified. I'll give it a try tomorrow.

I guess this is my LBM....

  • My card kept getting declined with Call Credit and Equifax every time I tried doing the £2 report :(

You can send the credit agencies £2 as a cheque or postal order, and they post you your credit file, it takes about 7 working days, so definitely not as quick as online, but it's something at least.
