My step mother didn't have a garden, just a back yard, she was a florist and loved plants and flowers so she filled the yard with beautiful artificial flowers, plants and miniature trees in pots. I have to say it looked fabulous and very realistic plus she was able to get them at cost price which helped as some of the better ones are quite expensive.Dum Spiro Spero0 -

You have young adult children? ... THEY do the mowing.. they would each only have to do it once a year.. grass is happy being cut only a few times a year.. or at least mine doesn't complain. My oldest cut the grass from being about 12.
I LOATHE gardenning.. I hate being outside in the sun and I refuse to go out in the rain so ours is left to the elements (yes I typed elephants and went back to edit that!) The whole lot is grassed, with the exception of the paved patio bit by the back door.. I go out to hang out/bring in laundry and that is all.
