Cheapest good tissues?

I try to use a washable cloth whenever I can to clean up messes in the kitchen, but sometimes a kitchen tissue is really needed. We also somehow get through quite a lot of toilet paper.... But they are both fairly expensive.

Where can I go to buy the cheapest kitchen tissue and toilet roll?

It's difficult to compare prices between supermarket and other shops (e.g. pound shops) because the thickness and length of tissue is always different.

I don't want that old tracing paper kind, it has to be real tissue.

Thanks

  • If you have a Home Bargains near you then they usually have decent toilet tissue and kitchen rolls at a good price.
I use Nicky toilet rolls from HB, but you can get them at other places; £3.99 for 18 rolls of quilted tissue.
Try looking for coupons on this site for Plenty kitchen rolls and then use the coupon when the supermarket has an offer on; this brings the price right down for a very good quality product.

Re Kitchen Towel - if you have a Wilkinsons near you look for a very large single roll called Blitz. It's £1.34 at the moment and you only need one sheet for nearly every job - it's almost like a jay-cloth it's that thick! You can also get it in Sainsbury's etc but it's nearly twice the price.
Toilet roll I can't help with I'm afraid as we get 40 rolls from Costco at a time.

I really like Aldi kitchen paper £1.99 for 4 I think. Good quality paper.
  • Tesco Springforce are good but come in a 2 pack so I use those for napkins and the Tesco Value 4 pack for household cleaning, mopping up spills, buffing sinks and taps and lots of other household and garden chores.

Loo rolls watch out for the cheaper brands (eg Tesco Value 18 for £x as their often false economy as the rolls are small and dont last long even though the offer is good price you will end up purchasing more often. Look out for the normal Tesco rolls and watch out for the offers. Alternatively try Lidil.
    Hope this helps. Thanks.

When comparing the cheaper brands against each other, its worth looking to see how many tissues are inside. The Tesco/Sainsburys value for example (which I don't think are too bad) have around 150 tissues, I think the Springforce boxes have around 90? I'd say don't bother with the branded types though: Velvet has only 46!

Aldi kitchen roll (can't remember the name sorry!) is £1.99 for a pack of four, which is 3ply, and lasts us ages.
Aldi toilet roll, (blossom) costs £1.99 for 12, is 2ply.
    Hope this helps :)
