Just received mine today and charging it up now. Maybe not £100 better but I got it for £204 on Amazon so the price after I posted has gone up. It also has a viewfinder which I dont think Argos one has and that should keep the camera more steady when using the large zoom.

A bridge camera offers more than a compact but with the point and shoot flexibility of a compact. This particular model has quite a few features which allows it to act as a good alternative to an SLR in terms of customisation. However, the main benefit of a bridge over a compact is the lens capability.
