I am creating a War themed display and am hoping people may have bits lying around their house that they might have wanted to get rid of /or if you know of places that i can pick things up from cheaply.
I haven't really planned what i want or how it will look as yet, but am thinking that i need to see what i can get my hands on first.

Does your school buy into a museum loans service? The kind of things you're talking about (gas masks, ration books etc) if genuine will cost a lot. If you have access to a museum loans service, you'll be able to get the items you want for free. Most recent wins: IPad, Jamie Magazine yearbook, Links of London friendship bracelet, Baumatic ice cream machine! :j0

Downloadable template for make your own gasmask box

Caring on the Home Front
Mostly American, but some period packaging covers, etc
Some of the packs of replica materials on ebay are not too expensive, if you can make use of 1 set for display.
Could all the children be 'evacuated' to another classroom for the day with only what they can carry in a small cardboard box?A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Why not put an appeal on local radio - you never know, you might get someone who'll come into school and talk to the kids!
Also are you aware of the Pathe newsreeels? They're on line and might be useful in lessons.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Ive looked into it, but it costs quite a bit (and additional postage costs). I knew a neigbour that got rid of quite a few bits a few years back, i should have asked then, but never thought i would need them in the future.
And thanks for the other suggestions, i will look into them and at the links provided.:confused:I say im a moneysaver, my family think im a cheapskate!0 -
