  • Thank you everyone!! I will give it a try and save more on groceries, I do already buy the cheapest of everything, all the shop's own cheap brands etc, veg from Aldi, but maybe I can try and squeeze a bit more.
My ex does buy the kids' clothes when needed, and any school trips etc. but no regular payments every month.
Thanks for all your advice, I will return and report of my progress in future. I hope to be debtfree within 5 years...is that being too optimistic??:)
    Thanks again

Your OH needs to be contributing financially for the care of his kids :)
Plus I'm assuming you are using your real name for posting, don't think I'd want any local randomers knowing my personal details (just a thought)

If you are paying your CT over 10 months and water rates over 8 months don't forget February and March you will be £140 better off. You could use this spare cash to pay off your payday loan and the rest to your highest rated CC.

Could you open a seperate current account and transfer £235 into it each month and have all your debts paid out of it? Doing this means you'll have a spare £5 in it each month which you can use to pay an extra payment to one of your creditors. If you make that your credit card then as the balance comes down so will the minimum payments leaving even more in the debts current account to make even more extra payments off your CC without being any worse off each month. You are used to paying this amount off each month anyway. I call it the backwards spiral.

    Hope that helps,
