statute barred but still getting hassle

a debt that is very old (no contact for over 8 years) was being chased up by Link a couple of months ago.
After advice from people on here I wrote to link and informed that as it was over 6 years that it was statute barred etc etc.
They left me alone for a couple of months but are now ringing and writing to me again.
Should I write to them again telling them that as it is over 6 years it is not enforcable, or should I just ignore them?
Many thanks in advance

Just because it's unenforceable doesn't mean they can't hassle you for payment.
Write or ignore but you'll still keep getting correspondence from them.0 -
i thought there was a rule that they could hassle you if it was statute barred? i must have been wrongfind a deal....pass it on :beer:0

There's a letter on here somewhere you can send, once they've acknowledged that the debt is SB, they can't chase you for it again....this doesn't stop them selling the debt to someone else who will be able to chase until you do the same again to them.

You were not.
Continuing to press for payment once they have been told the debt is statute barred is against OFT debt collection guidleines, may be an unfair comercial practice, and may constitute harassment.

If you really feel the need to write again, then there are some follow up letters in this link.

Based mostly on continued contact in writing, so may need adjustment if all they are doing is ringing.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Report them to any official bodies who will listen-OFT,trading standards,FSA etc, the more complaints people make about these scumbag DCA's the more they get fines and their licience is under threat.
They can ask once for payment, but once told it is SB thats it.

got a letter from them today requesting full payment. sent off a reply pointing out again that it was statute barred and that this would be my last reply to them.
hopefully that will get rid of them.find a deal....pass it on :beer:0 -
Are you sure it is SB? Are you sure you have not acknowledged or made any payment towards the debt in that time? Have you checked your credit report - if they have lodged a CCJ against you it is not SB.
just some things to consider.0 -
its definetly statatue barred, its over 8 years since any acknowledgement etc.
no ccj has been lodged, they have just tried to bully me into paying.
anyhow, i am not going to reply to them anymore. from what people have said on here i think that the matter is dead in the water.find a deal....pass it on :beer:0
