I'm bit of a fitness DVD junkie and have loads in my collection, though most are either untouched or watched a couple of times.
A great one for toning is Pilates Perfect Body http://www.amazon.co.uk/10-Minute-Solution-Pilates-Perfect/dp/B001J1O85C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329230561&sr=8-1 The instructor is not annoying at all (important if I'll be following it multiple times) and the exercises really do work. However I feel 10 minutes is too short so would recommend repeating each section twice if this DVD is all you do.
My favourite though is Jung Da Yeon's (google for her before/after photos, amazing transformation) Figurerobics series. It's all in Korean, I don't understand a word, but I find it very easy to follow and my muscles definitely get a good workout after every session, especially after the dumbbell workout. There are 4 workouts in the series each ~35mins long - dance (lack of coordination not a problem), mat workout, dumbbells and aerobic. You might want to check out youtube to get an idea of what the exercises are like.0 -
I am not a fitness junkie, but I do a lot of wishful thinking and researching
For toning my suggestions would be callanetics or kettle bells. I dabbled with callanetics years ago and it does work your muscles deeply and tones your shape well. Apparently 3 x 20 mins of kettle bells per week gives great results.0 -
Jillian Michaels 30 day shred is an excellent workout.....and only takes 20 minutes. Beware thought, I did it everyday last week and when I got weighed at SW this week I'd put on 5.5lbs!!!!!!! Apparently it's something to do with the muscles retaining water.
Not taking any chances this week, I've not done any shred at all! The Jung Da Yeon workouts sound interesting.0 -

I second Jillian Michaels 30 day shred....it's the only dvd I've done that actually makes me feel like I've done a workout....but believe me it WORKS. And yes, in only 20 mins, you have three stages, you do each level for so long and then go up to the next level. It really works....google it there's thousands of shred devotees out there0 -
Another vote for 30 day shred. It is the only workout where people have commented on my biceps/triceps when holding a door open while having a chat - and that's only after doing it for about a week before going on hols.0

Not a dvd, but I'd recommend finding a good kettlebells workout class - great to be other people, and I thought I was fit, but by crickey, does is challenge you. I've done 4 classes over 4 weeks, and can see a difference re toning.Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0
