Help! mortgage offer problems possibly?

Hi
We have just had an offer accepted on a house, have instructed solicitor and already had AIP with Lloyds TSB, the full application was processed through on Thursday just gone, however, my OH received a letter today from a debt company called capquest stating he owed Natwest Bank £400 and to pay etc.
We have sent a letter back asking for proof of debt as OH has no record of this amount owing and only had a staff account with them when he worked for them 5 years ago, which was closed in the local branch at the time. We are now panicking about our mortgage application, his credit record doesnt come up on experian etc as he had never had credit really apart from an account with lloyds and overdraft with them. Our credit rating at lloyds when they did the AIP came back brillant, top score, and they didnt ask for proof of earnings or anything, is this likely to affect us, we cant see if the debt is registered against him or anything, so dont know what to do or anything, have tried to speak to natwest but they will not help
thank you
