Working tax credits for self employed?

I was thinking of trying self employed web design, now to be honest i have no idea if i would even get any work my client sourcing would mainly be through web ads, so i mean i may get 1 job a year i may get several - i have no idea, point is though that if i come off JSA and try it, would i get working tax credits and how much, for example say i only made £2000 web designing for a year, tiny i know, but would WTCs top this up?
It's the same old story i would be better off staying on JSA and those who complain that you are living off other peoples hard earned taxes well i would still be getting WTCs so it's really no difference both benefits just a different name.
Any suggestions, I would probably go onto income based job seekers allowance right but how would WTCs work there?
Basically if i was to go for WTCs i would have to completely come off JSA and HB and i could be looking at making less per year but at least i would be semi independent.
Any thoughts?
