Which is the best/worst customer service bank?

Every six months we ask you for your customer services experiences with big banks. That time’s rolled around again, and we’d love your feedback based on how they've been recently.

Please vote based on CUSTOMER SERVICE, not rate, on your MAIN CURRENT ACCOUNT over the LAST SIX MONTHS.

I am ALWAYS in credit and in over 30 years with the same bank, I have never had to contact customer services.

I say the same bank, they have changed twice to my knowledge but I have been using the same branch all the time.
  • I'm with Halifax and have been for 11 years. However I'm now looking to change to a different bank as I get at least six cold calls a week from them about credit cards.

I've had to change my number and not give them the new one. As I am just so sick of getting the automated, or india based call center scripted calls. I've complained a number of times. They also keep sending me mail about loans/credit cards despite opting out, and being with the paper free service.

  • I'm constantly overdrawn, but this is a current account mortgage so that's kind of the point. Their service has always been fab. I recommend them to anyone who will listen! It's only for people who like trying to save though; if the sight of a 6 figure overdraft limit at the cash machine would set you spending, it may not be for you!

I am with Halifax Bank of Scotland from last six months and I am OK with them.

We have a business account with Bank of |Scotland , they have always been great ( weve never had an overdraft ) UNTIL they were bought out by Lloyds , we have had no end of trouble with them , the latest being not sending us a paying in book despite

    A) the fact it should have been sent automatically
    B) Myself and my Manager have put in orders for one two weeks ago and again one week ago

We cannot pay cheques in with out one , Lloyds will not accept counter pay ins for BOS , we were advised to post the cheques to our branch which is in London a week ago , they have got lost , several thousand pounds worth

One very hacked off 'Lloyds' customer

We used to have a great manager at BOS , but sadly managers seem to be replaced with robots or barely out of school insurance / bank product sales people

Aye, LLoyds is full of bloated insurance sales products, which are around £10 a month: when you do the math, its more expensive than taking separate insurance.
The staff are alright, but very pushy with sales.
With that in mind, I suppose they're still better than staff at Santander. If you check the job boards, they get paid peanuts.

I absolutely hate going into my local nationwide (morgage and savings accounts for us and kids), no matter what time of day, their is always a huge queue, however always friendly and helpful. However am happy overall with accounts and being able to manage online.
My natwest (current and deposit account) generally very efficient and helpful, with good queue sizes. Get a little fed up of being offer a super gold whatever and have i considered...... type conversations.
