Having recently retired and having time to spare I was talking to DD and she said the school was looking for people to be exam invigilators, I went along for an interview, had a CRB check and now go along when needed to help with exams. I thought it would be a volunteering thing but I get paid. So worth getting in touch with your local school if you have time to spare and need a little extra cash.

  • sounds like a good idea, is it just a CRB check or do you need any other qualifications. Besides that im definitely going to look into this, thanks

  • I keep meaning to look into this but then I'm always so busy, I probably wouldn't have time. My son's secondary school always has a note on the website saying that they are looking for invigilators, so might be worth looking at the websites of schools local to you.
  • My dad does this - he retired a few years ago and he loves it!!

He works at a local secondary school and gets quite a lot of work throughout the year - not just may - june during GCSE time.

    It's definitely worth looking into!

Absolutely no qualifications required but must be smart and able to deal with problems on your feet. Don't worry training is given and in the secondary school I go to there are usually more than one of us in the room and we have a radio to call for assistance.
Just had a call for two days next week and will be very busy in May.
