I'm a great believer in hanging whites outside in the sun to lighten & remove stains.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0

I'm so glad I read this thread, had never thought of dying towels! However, i'd like to try and remove the stains from mine first but just wanted to check what method opeople would recommend for pale coloured towels? Mine are sort of a pale mint green/turquoise so obviously bleach is out of the question. I have star drops so I guess a good soak in some of that with hot water then a hot wash with bio powder would be a good place to start?0

I also recommend the outdoor approach , bright sunshine does wonders for whites its got many a stain out of my white pillow cases and towels..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Soak overnight in Napisan and put them on the line in sunlight - you may have to do this a couple of times and it does workBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Every time I'm lucky enough to go to a hotel, I always say I will ask housekeeping how they keep the towels white. They must know something we don't!
Anyhow, I always forget, because I'm sozzled with lovely wine, or asleep, or late checking out or something,
BUT - they have the secret. Believe me!
Now does anyone on here know anyone working in a hotel laundry????0 -
I am a leave them outside in any sort of weather, frost and sunshine is best, but also a fan of dyeing when all else fails usually suncream in my case, or hair dye.0

Is it OK to do white cotton towels on a 90 wash - don't they shrink? Mine say wash at 50 on them. I want to try some of the ideas mentioned but can't line dry.0

AFAIK, Tesco still do it - although it's not cheap and looking at the ingredients, maybe there's an alternative out there with the same/similar ingredients?
