Is it worth me re mortgaging ?

Hi, I am at the end of a Halifax 2 yr fixed deal. I wanted to add £3000 on to my mortgage for home improvements making the total £42300. Now, Halifax are charging me £299 to do this and also £49 to change to there latest fixed rate which is quite high compared to others on the market. I contacted L & C for advice, they said if I re mortgaged with Alliance & Leicester my saving would be £400 over the 2 years. My dilema is that I keep reading threads about A & L charging loads of extra fees once they have you as a customer and now I am wondering if it is worth all of the hassle. Any advice please. Don't forget to take into account the cost for leaving Halifax

There may well be other lenders that offer similar deals, maybe not save as much, but you might be happier going with them

Ask L&C what other options they could offer you
