Selling silver and gold

Hi, i'm thinking of sending some gold and silver off to one of those 'we pay for gold' companies. Anyone had any dealings with them? Any recommendations? is there a comparison website for checking who is giving the best price at any given time?

look, i'm no expert in this field but i certainly recall an item on television recently about horror stories where people have sent gold off to the companies you allude to.0

I weighed mine at home so I knew roughly how much weight I had. I then checked the online info about what is the best rate available if I sent it off. Then I went into my local jewellers. He first of all offered me pretty much the best I could have got from one of the online places, but I was hesitant so he upped it a bit and said that was his absolute top offer. Needless to say I took the money. Cash up front and no worries about sending it off, and slightly more than I could have got anyway. Definitely worth trying an independent local jeweller.0
