I hate my cat sometimes,
the little (BEEEEPPP) has peed on our rug whilst we were out, despite having a beautifully clean litter tray! Ive put the rug outside, mopped up what I could from the carpet underneath and put bicarb of soda on the damp bit, is there anything else I can do to get rid of the smell?
Thank you xx

Biological washing powder or liquid, the enzymes in it will break down the cat pee. What ever you do don't use bleach or other cleaners because that will just attract the cat back to the same spot!Dum Spiro Spero0

Thats amazing thank you, we had a problem with him when he was younger keep going to the same spot (even though he had a clean tray again!) maybe it was because we were using cleaning products.0 -
Neat alcohol, something like cheap vodka, will get rid of the smell. I keep some in a spray bottle for getting rid of nasty smells; it works on everything including spilt milk, sick, etc.KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

I use cornflour to soak up (my dog wees occasionally)...pour over and let it dry (watch cat doesn't try to eat it!), brush it up when dry, do *not* use hoover as it will stick to the insides (I learned the hard way!:o)...it should remove all the wetness (when I first did it I was so amazed I kept telling my friends about it!)...and any smell. Think you can wipe with dilution of vinegar afterwards, but never needed that. I was in rented housing so being told that tip was a life saver. (Ordinary flour will not work).0

You cant beat biological washing powder IMO. I have 3 dogs and 6 cats and use it for mopping all the floors and for cleaning the cat/dog run outside too.:)0

Definitely go with the washing powder/liquid.
But thanks to Byatt for the cornflour tip! Fortunately our lastest rescue (3 month old kitten - had 3 days) is very well litter trained.Put the kettle on.0 -
