Drive way gates

Hi
I was given a set of gates for the entrance to my house which I had to get them increased in size to suit my pillars.
My only issue now is I want to strip the several layers of paint of them can anyone advise what is the best way to do this? I got some of B&Q paint stripper of metal stuff but have not tried it yet.
Some people were telling me that places can dip gates into a bath of acid to remove paint, is there anywhere like that in the craigavon area? Bear in mind the gates are cast iron and very heavy. How much does this usually cost?
What is the best and cheapest way?
Thank you

The company I am with manufactures this kind of product - be careful because we often get people coming looking for 'acid' to strip paint when the reality is that acid is only part of the product and will NOT work on its own.
I personally do not think that doing it at home gives a great result. If you want to go the chemical method I would suggest you contact HMG paints (castlereagh area). They don't do the stripping (that I know of) but one of their customers almost certainly will. Alternatively, since we are talking about metal which will undoubtedly need finished, have you thought about getting them shot/bead blasted? There would be a number of companies in the belfast area who could do this quickly and easily.Always overestimating...0 -
silverwood enterprise,6a silverwood rd craigavon may be what you need, they do hot bath acid dip, galvanising and powder coating.Your gates being cast iron may be better shot blasted and they do this also I believe.counting down the time I got left.:beer:0
