Just wondered has anyone had experience of these? Saw an ad in the bel tel yesterday for one at the culloden today. Am quite sceptical but think it must ok if it's in the paper and big hotel?
Am quite close by so might pop in for a quick look.

Had a quick Google for "Customs bonded auction" and found this: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2983010

Well it was actually better than I thought. Seemed professional enough and it was pretty crowded.
Yes I think people sometimes forgot about the fees and paid over the odds, but I think some people got some bargains that I wish I'd have moved quicker on.
Would probably go back.0 -
Any examples of prices for what paid?0

Different specs of tvs 40in+ going for £450-650 inc fees. They seemed quite good deals to me. Quite a few laptops some people got good deals but think others got carried away- ranged from £350-550 inc fees.
I remember the first IPhone 4s went for 270 inc fees, the ones later went for a bit more- as much as you'd pay in shop I think.
Other stuff included art and signed memorabilia that seemed expensive to me- but then I don't see what value there is in a signature. £14k plus fees for signed Paul McCartney guitar.0 -
Sams yer man was doing a 40" Full HD Toshiba for £299.99 with a warrantyDave0

This type of advert has been going for years. The expression "Revenue & Customs Bonded Warehouse (Now Closed)" is meaningless. Likewise the expression "Which must be sold to settle Duty & Vat". People are drawn in by pure greed. They think they are going to get something at a tiny fraction of the typical retail price.
As they say "Aye right!
If Currys and Sams Yer Man and other retailers could flog items at these prices they would!
Get real it is just a big con.Try getting your TV fixed once should it go wrong.
If it is a true auction you haven't a leg to stand on0 -
I went to one of these once. The first item to sell was a top sepc Sony Viao laptop. It went for a great price. You could tell it was a setup. The rest of the laptops were much lower spec and sold for £100 plus the price on Amazon.
None of this stuff is from a customs warehouse. It is a massive con.0 -

Yea the one we went to last week the first item sold was a sony viao and it went for a very good price. Obviously just a tactic to get people bidding, especially as guy said that as most people are new they should sit out first few items and just watch.0
