Thanks for subscribing, hope you don't find my ramblings too boring
Today I finally paid off Wonga!!! I'm so so happy. Admittedly, I'm missing a few payments in order to do it, but I'd much rather miss those payments and get out of the payday loan trap much sooner.
I also missed payments last month
Capital One are really p****ing me off. I removed my work number from my online account ages ago, but when I missed last month's payment, they started calling on it again. I asked them to remove it. Then today, I received another call from them, this time via the switchboard (instead of directly to my extension). I never gave them that number!! Underhanded tactics. I've told them to remove it and have also sent a letter off to them via recorded delivery.
I don't want them calling me at work. This office is open plan...
HSBC have been calling the house phone but no one ever answers it, and I turned the ringer off, so that's alright...
And Very have just been sending me letters. They're my favourite so far. :rotfl:
I know, I should be worried about missing payments I guess, but my credit rating has been shot to pieces for ages, so I REALLY can't be bothered to get upset about it. I never want credit again! Except for in about 10 years when I finally have enough saved to buy a house, and hopefully I'll have plenty saved for a massive deposit too.
Anyway, once I've received all the statements, and payments, interest and charges have been applied, I'll update my total debt signature. Thankfully it should still fall despite me missing paymentsbecause I FINALLY PAID OFF WONGA

WELL, what a difference a couple of weeks make!
I've fallen off the wagon slightly, but debt is still on the decrease and lower than when I started, so will at least congratulate myself on that. I finally sold that lens, which will be my spending money for the remainder of the month :j Just need to remember to send it off tomorrow, otherwise i might have an upset ebayer on my hands lol.
However, looks like the house-moving plans might be in jeopardy... my sister just told me that she isn't likely to be able to move in July anymore because of HER money troubles. Unfortunately my attempts to try and talk about it only ended in her getting upset with me. This is pretty much the norm when I try to talk to her about money. I'm actually quite upset with her because we discussed her finances approx a couple of months ago and I thought she had a plan to tackle them, but as soon as her credit limit went up on her credit card - and I told her to be careful with it! - i think that plan went straight out the window and now she's back in the same situation she was in 2 months ago.
I don't feel like I want to wait for her to get her LBM before I can move. I feel like I'm being selfish saying that... but I'm so fed up of living here! I don't feel relaxed when I'm home. my housemates aren't awful but one of them is very inconsiderate and is always banging things and it drives me up the wallPlus the landlord is so rubbish, he doesn't take care of the house and doesn't fix things properly. i'd rather give my money to a landlord who actually gave a s**t
Anyway, got to think about it some more, as i'd be moving into another houseshare, and who knows I could still end up with irritating housemates then as well.....0 -
Some good news! I wrote to CapOne a couple of weeks ago to complain about them calling me repeatedly at work, and received a letter back today. They've knocked £84 of default charges off my account and have also suspended calls to me for 28 days (from 16th March). Not exactly what I wanted - would prefer no phone calls at all - but I'll actually be up-to-date by the time the 28-day window ends, and better yet I'll only have about £100 to pay off after the £75 I'm planning to pay at the end of this month! So I'm quite pleased with this new development
Pay day is on Wednesday and i have it all planned...
£200 for spends for the month. This has to include food, snacks, magazines (I can go months without buying one, then suddenly buy several at a time), and maybe a few new items of clothing.... It's going to be tight, but it will enable me to put more on to my credit cards & Very, which is VERY important to me as I've missed payments on all of them...
I also have to spend £77.50 on a new passport next monthas I'm hoping to go on holiday next year and need ID for when I do my exams in May. My passport expired ages ago and is in my old name (changed my surname for personal reasons) so I really need to sort it out!!! Good thing I don't usually get ID'd!

Have been playing around with my sums this evening. At the end of June, we should (hopefully) be getting a bonus and a payrise backdated from April. SO I've been busy estimating what my net pay could be that month.
I'm hopeful that I'll be able to do one of three things with the extra money (or maybe two things, but I doubt I can manage all 3):
1. Pay off the balance on Very
2. Move house
3. Book a flight to see my mum (she lives overseas)
The last one isn't a HUGE priority I suppose, as my mum was in the UK last year. BUT I haven't actually had a proper holiday since 2004. I'm not even exaggerating...
I'm desperate to go overseas and spend a couple of weeks relaxing on a golden sandy beach. I actually think I need it for my sanity.
At the same time, seeing my Very balance dropping to zero and/or moving to somewhere a bit more desirable would be a dream come true! I hate paying Very so much interest and I'm almost starting to hate living here. My room is cold and drafty, my housemates are incredibly irritating, the garden is a state, the bathroom desperately needs a new suite, the house in general is in a state of disrepair because the landlord doesn't give a s**t...!!! It's all really starting to get to me
I think it's getting me down even more lately because I was so hopeful of moving out in July with my sis and now that could potentially be on the backburner because of HER money issues. Grrr!! Who the hell invented credit cards???
Anyway I kind of need to decide which 2 out of the 3 options are the ones I should choose.
I think definitely pay off Very!
Then with the remainder, either move house (potentially without my sis) or book my holiday.
At least I have 3 months to decide..0
