I wanna cheap, accurate Blood Pressure Monitor

As per subject line, I'm looking for a cheap acurate blood pressure monitor.

Does anyone have any recomendations?

Thanks.
It could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.

Yes, thank you for that. For two years, lloydspharmacy have done this promotion, and for 2 years I have emailed them multiple times about purchasing the blood pressure monitor from them and having it sent to me. In those 2 years, they have responded NOT once!

I mentioned the offer to the nurse at my GP's office and she recommended I don't bother, as that particular brand isn't known for its accuracy and it wouldn't come with a large 'cuff' which is something elsei I would need. So here I am, hoping someone has investigated blood pressure monitors and whether they have any recommendations.

I've seen 'wrist' BP monitors, but don't know whether they are considered acurate or not. I've asked the nurse and she just said she'd 'need to see it' before deciding one way or another.

Anyone investigated these things that can offer any advice?

    Thanks.

I believe the wrist monitors aren't as accurate as the arm ones.

And when I looked into getting a larger cuff so I could lend my monitor to my mum, that was going to cost nearly as much as the monitor itself! (I've got an Omron.)

The BPAssoc site has some information on monitors.

i think omron are one of the best monitors, my dr agreed, i got mine from http://www.midmeds.co.uk very quick delivery too
the wrist monitors arent very accurate
  • I've found the Lloyds £9.99 monitor excellent.
You can ask Lloyds to do a pressure test while your there and compare that with the reading you get on the monitor at home.

I had been keeping my readings for a few days when I had to go to hospital for a totally different reason. While I was there I persuaded a nurse to check my BP on the hospital equiptment and her readings were unfortunately more or less the same as the Lloyds monitor, so I was obliged to do something about it.

i bought a cuff after reading so many posts about how good they are they are more or less the same as what the docs use, they come with either a medium/large or extra large cuff it shows a size on the box i bought a one with a large cuff then bought an extra large cuff separate for £2.99 for hubbies arms (kinda big guy:rotfl: ) i tried a wrist one a couple of years ago total rubbish....

the bp monitors are battery operated but can also be used with a dc adapter, you would have to supply your own as they dont come with one
