Holiday sacrifice

Friend is working for an agency and was surprised to see that 10% of her wage every week goes towards holiday sacrifice. I thought everybody is entitled to paid leave with pay. She did say the agency did mention about the 10% but she did not understand it. Can anybody explain,pl, I have never heard of it!! Thanks

they make the deductions so they can pay the holiday pay.
  • She isn't being asked to sacrifice holiday, she is being told that her real pay isn't what they told her it was and that her holiday (to which she is entitled by statute) is being paid for via the deduction.
  • Let me guess, she's paid through an umbrella company.

That's actually not a high enough deduction, it should be (I think, but I'm happy to be corrected) 12.08%.

Hourly rate is £12.24 after the 10% it is £11. Just wondering whether this is norm for some agencies!! It is an international agency in Central London. The job she does is admin for the council. Thanks
