Can i accept a job whilst on sick leave?

Whilst i understand that you can attend interviews, i wondered if you could actually accept a job offer whilst on sick leave. Albeit i have only been off for 1 week so far, signed off with depression and recently back from maternity leave but cant help but worry. The reason for my depression is because of my current role so would really like a new job to help me overcome it. I have also looked at my current employers procedures and cant seem to find anything on whether i need to remain in that role for a specific after mat leave before having to pay back my mat pay, so im assuming this does not apply!

I don't know for sure, but if it work related stress and having a different job would mean that you are not going to be sick any more, I imagine it is OK. By the time you start your new role you will not be off sick any more.

I would ask about the maternity pay though as they usually are very strict if they offer enhanced mat pay. They usually refer to the mat policy in the handbook and there is a separate document.

Hopefully someone will come along with something concrete
