I have bought some of mu stuff from TKMaxx. Tesco also do a ski range and there is always ebay. If there is a McArthur Glen near you, I managed to get some Trespass salopettes for £25-bargain0

I agree Tk Maxx is great! If you are small look in the kids section as their salopettes and jackets are much cheaper and sometimes are the same size as the small adults!
Also H and M is great for kids stuff and I have managed to fit their boys ski gloves which is a real money saver as you do not pay VAT!!0 -
Ok, thanks. So what exactly will I need? Do I need to buy boots or can I hire them?0

If you don't mind mixing with the scutters, there maybe some gear in Aldi.0

Loads of half price ski stuff ionline n Mountain Warehouse. Ours local one is closing the ski section down and had stuff at 75% off
Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.0 -
Tesco have 20% off the ski range at the moment.
(and if you follow the Tesco vouchers thread, there are a number of vouchers you can combine to reduce the price considerably!)0 -
If you want more designer ranges then take a look at
http://www.sierratradingpost.com/
they are US based but post to the UK, I got a load of SPYDER ski gear a year or two ago at loads off the UK price. Factor in customs and duty though
Also they have an excellent returns policy
"When you do business with Sierra Trading Post, you’re getting the best guarantee out there. If you are not happy with your purchase for any reason, please return it to us for a full refund or exchange. This guarantee never expires! If you feel we have made a mistake in filling your order, we will gladly refund your shipping charges as well. "

Not sure where you are, but the Galleria in Hatfield had TONNES of dirt cheap skiing kit at the weekend in various closing down sales.
My mum went for the first time this year and got everything from Decathlon.0 -
