Wonga Payment Issue

Need some help here, I made a payment through wonga's website to pay off my loan early the transaction has been declined on the website but the money has been taken from my account. Now the bank say that the payment has been authorised and is waiting for wonga to approve this but when I call wonga they want me to send in a bank statement saying clearly wong.com minus the payment amount but this wont show untill wonga approves the payment, im stuck now the bank cant/wont do anything and neither will wonga.

    It's a pending transaction and will drop off the system in a few days and return to your account.

    Sorry mate, no idea.....pending transactions normally show for a few days on your online banking as a difference in your balance, then they drop off and return. I had one for 13k a few weeks back which was a bit scary but came back to my account after a few days.

    You should be able to get an authrisation number from your bank to give to Wonga to allow then to collect the payment. Or if you have the cash, pay again, chances are the first one will drop off and return to you.

  • I had the same thing happen to me in a shop (embarassingly) - my card was 'declined' but when I went to withdraw from the cash machine the money had gone from my 'available' balance!

    It was the fourth day when it re-appeared, i.e. happened on a Monday and was returned on the Thursday.

    Not sure whether Wonga can 'see' the transaction or not - if they only see a declined card payment, it's probably best to phone them and try to explain, preferably with some sort of reference code so they can check their system for your attempted payment.
  • I've gotten the authorisation number from my bank but wonga wont accept it, they say it means nothing to them what they need to see is my bank statement showing a payment to wonga, but whatever has happened at least I know that what you guys have been saying is right, I finally spoke to someone who said by monday at the latest the money should either go through as paid or return to my account, I'll still need to pay charges but I'm sure I can sort that out thanks for the help
