Job Application Deadlines

I became aware of a job vacancy last week and I have managed to complete most it. All that needs doing now is another read through and a bit of editing before submitting.
On the application it states the deadline as ‘Friday 10th February’, with no specific time mentioned. Commonly, does mean that the application is open until midnight tonight, midnight on the day of the deadline or maybe the end of a working day on the day of deadline eg 5pm?
I would have e-mailed or called the organisation however I don’t want to give off the wrong impression that I’m disorganised. I’ve been working away all week so I’ve been unable to do anymore to the application until today.
Many thanks

Hi there, I really wouldn't worry about sounding disorganised, I think it is better to ask questions than wing it & hopefully they would feel that way too.
I only found out about a job vacancy yesterday, to which the closing date is 10th !! I just rang them & asked if could pick up an application pack & they kindly emailed me it instead, it also gave me a chance to ask a couple of questions.
Good luck

From my experience the Friday would turn into the following Monday if the employers were disorganised, but by the same contrast some of them might close it early if they have x00 replies to sift through.
If the deadline is Friday 10th, and you've only just seen it today, then by midnight the day before is best as like you say, you don't know what the cutoff time is on the 10th unless they tell you a time. A time as well as a date, you tend to get more with public sector jobs but it varies.0 -
Usually only the jobs advertised in the public sector are they strict with application deadlines. I would take apply by Friday 10th February as by Midnight Friday 10th Feb, if applying online.0

It is almost always a case of the earlier the better. If a hiring manager has time they will start looking at CVs as they come in the door and start offering interviews etc so the later you are the higher the hurdle rate as they'll have already selected X that are good enough and wont want to do extra interviews for interviews sake.0

I would apply before close of business on the Friday, anytime after that the company wouldnt open emails till Sat, Sun, or Monday.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
There isn't a cut off like you think. It's not like a competition. I would aim to have it in before close of business that day though - even then you may be a little late...0

Thanks all.
I've completed the application though, but one section is concerning me. At the end of the competency section there is a box saying "Provide any additional information in support of your application".
Is it necessary to input something here? I can't think what else I need to put in there. Maybe courses I've completed? Although these are on my CV..0 -
If there is anything on the job description that you haven't covered then that's the place to put it.
This usually means going through the job desc and picking all the 'essential' skills/experiences and putting a one liner saying that you have done this, to a high standard, or are well versed in it or are qualified in it. It's your opportunity to tell them how well you fit their JD.
So unless this is done somewhere else in the application, do it here.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

This is your chance to show why you are perfect for the job. Write a personal statement which shows how your skills match the job description. Bring in anything that you have not been able to show already and make sure that you show how excited you are about the job and how much passion you would have to do this job.
In my organisation, although this seems to come at the end of the application process, it will in fact be the first thing the selection panel read. Sell yourself and your skills here and you should impress the panel. There are three types of people in this world. Those who can count and those who can't.0
