I'm retired now, but if I had just a tenth of the money I've wasted unecessarily on cars over the last 47 years, I'd be having a very comfortable retirement.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
I have no other outgoings other than petrol etc.
The gist of this thread is 'don't do it' but I suspect you still will if you can!
Does your dad know what being a guarantor fully entails? He is effectively insuring your debt, ie if you default, the loan becomes your dad's until it is paid.
A £5K deposit should be seen as a gift from the gods, use it wisely, I certainly wouldn't use it to soften the blow of a huge loan at 18 - I can't think of anything worse than to be saddled with debt at that age.0 -
I think this is trueunitedfan and I claim my ten pounds!Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
I don't understand why young guys are obsessed with expensive cars that will lose 50% of there value in the first 18 months, you can buy a 6-month old car for about 30% less than brand new price.
I'm going to buy myself a new car today, 2003 Ford Focus 1.6 for £1,300 its a nice decent run around and cheap.0 -
you cant afford it buy an old banger 500 squid sorted0
