NHS Discounts (Discussion)

Options
Hi all,

I'm new to the NHS and I read on the Internet that we can get 30% discount with O2.

I rang O2 and they said that you have to get an 'open' code from your manager/HR department.

I e-mailed my HR department and they tried to direct me to Voice Mobile who only give discount for Orange!

Does anyone know anything about this?

Thanks in advance.

  • Pop into your local shop and ask them (I'm with Orange and it can be done in the shop) I couldnt have monthly discount tho as I was half way thru my contract when I started work (Discount has to be applied when you take out a contract / upgrade)
  • is it just with contracts?

good question, i'm not too sure, might be worth popping into your local mobile network shop to find out :)
  • i didnt know that O2 did but vodafone also give a 20% discount via a form that i dont have at the moment. The other hidden gem is 20% off nandos, but if you are buy more than one meal, make sure you buy the most expensive seperately as the till automatically takes the 20% off the cheapest.
  • Domino's pizza is 50% off if you show your ID card :)

I once got the friends and family o2 discount (not via NHS) and I had to register and log in to their portal to obtain the code. The guy in the shop wouldn't do anything without it. Maybe find some else in HR to help?
  • To be fair, this is so slack of O2 and this is a really difficult way to sort this out. With orange, you take your last payslip in. With vodafone, you fill out a form. HR people have better things to do than try and track down codes.

I have finally got this O2 discount applied to my contract. I bought my phone at Christmas and it has taken over 4 months of chasing emails and phone calls. It's 20% and they just need the last 5 or 6 digits of your employee number from your payslip. I was mis-informed - it should actually be a one off credit to your account not 20% off your monthly bill as I was lead to believe.

Vodaphone also offer 20% (much simpler)
    Nandos - 20%
    Wallis Clothes shop 10%
    Dorothy Perkins 10%
Halfords do an NHS discount but not sure whether that is national or just my local one?

    Anyone know any others?? :D

I think you also get 10% off BHS, Topshop, Burton, Wallis and Topman, only saying this because I used to work there and knew of the discounts available, things may have changed since so its worth asking.

I've also seen it mentioned on other boards that Orange gave an NHS discount but again, this may have changed so check with your HR first.

Unfortunately Burton and Topman don't do the NHS discount anymore :(
