    if she had given her job up would have not been fair,

    It might not feel fair - but it's fair in law.

    She didn't get the job, it was only a possibility anyway, and the job fell through. You don't definitively know the reason why, so she needs to move on. She still has a job, and hasn't lost anything.

    If she really doesn't want to be 'tarnished' by this conviction then she needs to look at jobs which don't require an enhanced CRB check. Comparing her position with those of foreign workers just screams of 'Daily Mail'.
