Hi,
I have been applying for a few retail positions that are advertised on gumtree and one got in touch with me to say I'd need to pass a credit score before being offered an interview/job. I get this...I know alot of places such as banks have this requirement. However, it seem strange as this is a regular shop as far as I'm aware (although they are being very elusive and only tell me the first part of the postcode of said shop - I dont even know the name of the place!!)
Anyway, in his email (which he sent from a "freemailuk" address as opposed to a business email address) he gave me this link and told me to print off my credit score and take it with me to an interview (which hasnt yet been arranged): http://www.printyourcreditreport.com/credi/
It seems dodgy as far as I can tell. Or is this something completely legit and I am just being silly?

No not legit at all. Once you put in your email address etc. jumpt through the hopps you end up at quickcreditscore.co.uk who seem to be a bunch of scam artisits. Guessing the jobs don't exist and it's all a scam to get you to sign up to the credit report thing.

Even banks and such don't recruit based on your credit score, they just screen for CCJs, bankruptcy, IVAs, defaults, and so on. Your credit score itself is irrelevant to the overwhelming majority of jobs, including banks.
It's a scam to get you to pay to view your own credit file, and even that may not be real - you can approach the major credit assessment agencies (such as Experian) directly, there's no need to go through any other company.======================================
