Regarding the agency wanting to know "who told you the account was closed", well, that's none of their business as they should only be transferring money into the most recent account you told them about.
HSBC would probably not discuss the account with the agency due to the Data Protection Act. It may need you writing to HSBC to explain the error and asking for them to return the money to the agency.
The agency should pay you again into the correct account, if they get the original money back that's a bonus, if not, then it's their loss. At the end of the day this is their error and not your fault. You do not need to justify yourself to them.When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN
