Rice Krispy cakes

Hi,
Ive done a search on the recepie index with no luck..prob cos Im spelling it wrong?..
Anyway..my little boy wants to do some baking and I thought a nice easy recipie was these rice crispy cakes but I can't find one...anyone point me in the right direction please?

Ive tried doing them previously without following instructions and it was a disaster..they were all soft and chewy, not crispy like there supposed to be.

I melt a big bar of chocolate in a bowl over hot water and then in a big bowl stir the chocolate into as many rice crispies as it will take.

Wait for it to set - normally I try and put them in the fridge to set quickly so I can eat them quicker :D

I might have to have a go now :o

Depends if the recipe involved syrup+marg or marshmallows...
  • I make 2 sorts, the bar of chocolate method, same as Jess & which turns out crunchy & one with melted golden syrup & cocoa, which turns out sticky.

My recipe is for the microwave, but unfortunately I can't remember the exact measurements! Basically it's 2 cups of the cereal (rice or cornflakes) plus something like 25g sugar, 50g margarine, 2 tablespoons of syrup and 1 tablespoon of cocoa. The sugar, syrup and margarine are melted in the microwave, then add the cocoa and the the cereal and mix! Good luck!

  • I don't use a recipe, I melt half a small tin of golden syrup over a very low heat, add a couple of teblespoons of cocoa or drinking chocolate then stir in as many rice crispies as you can, then put spoonfuls of it in paper cake cases.
These stay very sticky, but are very yummy.

  • Hi, i have to agree with the melting chocolate and adding rice crispies is always the easiest, my kids love them. You can also melt 2 tblspoons of golden syrup into the mixture to make them chewy mmmmmm
  • using crushed up weetabix works really well, and using crushed up shredded wheat makes brilliant "nest" for easter, when they are in the cake cases make a dip in the middle and once they have set put some cadburys mini eggs in them, now my mouth watering!!

Yes reehsetin it is really easy. Keep giving the microwave short bursts, of maybe 15 secs. Make sure you stir the chocolate each time you take a peek though, as it doesn't look melted but it is inside. It seems to melt from the inside out IYKWIM.

    Good luck!
