My DH has been working at a care home for the last 4 1/2 yrs (ish) and as a rule has the same working rota (2 week rota - 3 1/2 day week) Alternative weekends off and half day mondays.
Owners have now worked out a Rotating rota between this home and the another 2 that they own, although my husband is the only static body, But they have changed all the other days - It's basically pot luck when he will be off from week to week. I work part time on Mondays and every weekend, childcare is covered by husband when off and Mums and Grans the alternative weekends.
Next weeks "rota" has been up for about 10 days and as usual his days off are the same - we have made plans for day trips to Zoo as it is half term.
Today they have changed that rota so our plans probably won't go ahead (imo this is not reasonable notice). Also if they are OK in changing hubs shifts? then i will have to give up work - basically are they allowed to change his rota as they deem fit?
Just to add - We live in a small village and dh is the only chef that doesnt drive hence being static. Also we have 2 young children
If you need to ask anything please do - I'm going to phone acas now

Have phoned acas - They seem to think he "acquired rights" as even though it isnt in his contract it has been what is expected of him for so long.
Now the manager has cut his shifts to 30 week. He is contracted to 37.5 but he works 3 x 12hrs and an 8 hour so 44hrs again as this has been for so long ACAS believe he has acquired rights to 44
Time for the poo to hit the fanDFW Nerd #awaiting number - Proud to be dealing with my debts!
