So my brother has started into the world of S&S ISAs via HL. He signed up mid Jan, but they supposedly can't take payment there & then & it's a set date .... so 7th Feb is when they took his first payment via D/D.
He goes into his account & can't really see any value as such. He's just going around his account to get to grips with things really (in other words, he's not going in panicking after day1).
Portfolio Overview says:
Vantage A/C: HL S&S ISA
Stock Value: £0
Cash Value: £50 (on current wage & until he gets his car sorted out, this is all he can afford, but will be looking to increase).
Total Value: £50
Amount available to invest: £0
If he clicks on the HL Vantage S&S ISA....
Stock: nothing listed
Cash: cash on account = £50
Pending Orders (1): "Jupiter Merlin Balanced Portfolio Accumulation Units " This is where it finally lists what he selected. Order status = pending.
How is this actually operated then? Does he have to do anything further?
I went to an IFA who dealt with mine & invested through Scandia. I was able to log onto the Scandia website immediately & see value. It wasn't a panicking thing, it was a finding out how the website works thing.
TIA.

It will be a few days (don't know precisely how long) before they process the Jupiter transaction.
Nothing to worry about - he doesn't need to do any more.0 -
They take the D/D on the 7th but invest it on the 10th. It will be shown as 'pending', you said so. What is he worried about?Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Everything is fine, if he is investing monthly at 50 a month, then it's ok. On the 10th he will see the fund appear in his ISA.0

Just to add, if he doesnt see the fund in his account on the 10th or even the day afterwards, dont panic. they trade on the 10th but wont list the purchased units in your account until they have received confirmation on the trade... last month, mine didnt show up until maybe the 14th or something, but the investment is made on the 10th and purchased at that days price.14/12/2009 - Official Debt Free Day

I'm assuming you didn't read my post in full??
It confuses me EVERY time without fail. Why when someone asks a question online does that person automatically have to be worried or panicking? I really don't understand it at all.
Are people not allowed to "just ask" these days without being accused of worrying?
At the weekend i went to my local supermarket & had to ask one of the shop floor staff where they kept their chilli sauces.
I guess i must've been worried about where it was. Here was me all this time thinking i just wanted to know where it was kept.
I'm sorry (to quote you to make this point), but it really irritates me why people online seem to think any question = worrying.0 -
Yes you try & make a joke to avoid the fact. :TGosh! You're easily irritated.
Best to stay offline and lie in a darkened room.
No, i'm not easily irritated actually.
The problem is this isn't just a one off. If it was i wouldn't pay it much attention. It seems to be every single time i ask a question, i then get asked why i'm worrying ....... even when i say i'm not worried!!!!
It's not just this forum either.
I really don't get why someone has to be worried when they're just asking a question. When it gets said once, or twice, it's nothing. But when people are asking why you're worried just about every single time you ask a question, then yes it's irritating, but no that doesn't mean i'm easily irritated.
You can also keep your remarks to yourself. How about we employ a "best to not ask someone why they're worried when they already tell you they're not worried before you ask" policy instead :T0 -
What are you actually contributing here though other than being a smart esra?Whilst you're free to post yours?
I asked a question & i got a reply.
Then i got folk implying that i'm up all night worrying about this, which i put right.
Then in comes you ... being a smart esra. Thanks for that input.0
