Default by Payday UK

Sorry to hear you've got a default on your credit report. It's not the nicest of things to have (I know I've had one for almost 6 years now).
Even though I earn over the average wage per year, have never missed any other payments and have no searches on my credit file I have still struggled to sort it all out.
I had to get a CC with Vanquis and another one with Capital One in order to start rebuilding my overall rating. Nationwide still won't give me an overdraft, can't seem to get a contract mobile phone and no decent CC lender will touch me with a barge pole.
It's a pain having a default but it's not the end of the world as you can survive it.Current Debt
Barclays Student Overdraft £3,000 [£3,000 limit - £7 monthly fee, 0% interest]
Nationwide Overdraft £145 [£150 limit 19.9% interest]
Barclaycard £2,990 [£4,000 limit - 0% interest until April 14]
Vanquis £1,331.96 [£3,000 limit - 39.9%APR)
Capital One £50 [STRIKE]£81.54 [/STRIKE][£200 limit - 27.9%APR)0 -

I know what you mean. Thankfully I do have what I need for the moment like credit cards, mobile contract, full bank account. Only reason I wanted the default removed was so I can balance transfer as the interest on vanquis and aqua are killing me, oh I nearly forgot Capital One too! Still, it ain't the end of th the world and it was my fault for having got that default in the first place.
Looks like all the struggling will be over for you soon. Hope it all works out for you.0 -

Thanks! I hope its not too much of a struggle for you over the next few years if you need to obtain new credit.Current Debt

Hi zhoque,
Hope you won't mind my input
Whilst the same has happened to me with Payday UK and whilst it doesn't bother me greatly, I have recently seen of someone similiar to both us managing to get their default removed with another payday lender - hope it gives spirit maybe put your request of removal in writing as a complaint?
Weird whilst I have this default, I was surprisingly able to use my credit when needed once (not that I relied on it) and it didn't matter, but as it wasn't for credit cards specifically I can't verify that in any certainty the default won't matter x0 -
I'm just coming out of the other side of a default administered in 2006 and this is the last home run until September. During this time I learnt my lesson and my debt is now negligible. There was a difficult time when my ex wife and I went for a new mortgage in 2007 and thats when we discovered the bad news.
During this time it has stopped me getting into more debt although I was able to take finance on a car for which I get paid a car allowance from work and Capital One and Barclaycard both continued to increase my available credit.0 -
It is amazing how many come on here saying that they thought that they had already paid back a loan, and also many seem to simply forget that they had a loan and conveniently have lost the paperwork for it as well.
My apologies to zhoque. My comment, which I do not retract in any way, is absolutely true, as anyone who inhabits this forum will know. I obviously posted it on the wrong thread and it does not apply to zhoque. I'll have a look and see where it was that I actually meant to post it.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Apology accepted. Come to think of it, I feel as though i might have been a bit harsh in my rant, nothing personal. I was having quite a bad day and when i looked at the thread and your post in particular i just saw red.0

I know it will probably get me no where, but i think i will try and put pen to paper and see if it has the desired effect.Deleted%20User wrote: »Hi zhoque,

Zhoque, mark it for the attention of Customer Relations Department - I found their complaints procedure was quick within 4 weeks, good luck
