Thanks Dandelionclock30, you were a massive help last time around. She is currently off sick at the moment due to the stress of it all, her sicknote runs out on Friday. Does she hand in her resignation now, Or when the note runs out?
Thanks0 -
is there anyone above the boss she can make a complaint to?Thanks Dandelionclock30, you were a massive help last time around. She is currently off sick at the moment due to the stress of it all, her sicknote runs out on Friday. Does she hand in her resignation now, Or when the note runs out?

Good for you and your daughter, she is doing the right thing, this is not an apprenticeship, it is slave labour, she should ask CAB to lodge a complaint against the job centre who appear to be colluding with the employer to break the law related to the NMW.0

Hi Gibson123, the CAB have been brilliant with her and have advised her/me to write to our local MP highlighting the case.
She has never received a written contract of employment, nor has she received any formal training. IMO, (I'm old school) I didn't think you needed an appreticeship to use a phone!!!
No one else to complain to LadymissA0 -
Who owns the company? The pervert who is harrassing her?Hi Gibson123, the CAB have been brilliant with her and have advised her/me to write to our local MP highlighting the case.

How long has she been there? Is she the only one being treated this way? Why don't the others stand up and say something too?0 -
Its upto her when she hands the resignation in, is she being paid whilst off sick? if she is then you could wait until the sick note runs out.If not then it doesnt make any difference.
When she rings up the DSS she needs to be saying what you have said here. Also that she wants to apply for severe hardship because if she doesnt have any money then she will be thrown out as her parents cant afford to keep her etc.
I hope she gets a better employer next time, being on the dole or penniless is better than putting up with that!0 -
LadyMissA, yes the pervert who is harrassing her. There are 5 apprentices all in the same boat, albeit one is male.
The owner/manager has gone as far as coming up behind my daughter whilst she is on the phone, and massaging her shoulders. Other girls he has cuddled and kissed them on the forehead.
Make of this what you will, we each have our own tolerance levels. In my daughter's eye this is not acceptable behaviour in the workplace. Regardless, she feels very intimidated by his persona.0 -
This chaps behaviour sort of reminds me of this Canadian game show host:

What Poppa has outlined is pretty disturbing. The fact her daughter and others is an apprentice not even earning the NMW shows that an increasing number of companies are not just failing to adhere to a minimum level of pay, but also failing to adhere to a minimum level of respect, standards and decency. Working a 45hr week for £100 is expolitative of course. It perhaps how little this chap thinks of some or all of his staff and maybe sees them as his personal property. Just how long is your daughters apprenticeship supposed to last Poppa?
Going to the CAB is a step in the right direction. Are they (CAB) also suggesting she take legal advice?0 -
so has she stood up and said anything? Have the other girls? It's sexual harrassment and ILLEGAL!! You are not even allowed in the work place to even put a hand on someones shoulder as it could be seen in this way.LadyMissA, yes the pervert who is harrassing her.
